Bonja the Bodger

aka Ben Jezierski

In addition to my ongoing private and communal spiritual practice – or perhaps more accurately, as another aspect of it, I also create hand-carved utensils and other items from rescued and re-purposed wood. Though to be honest, it’s not so much a process of creation as it is of revelation and release; of allowing whatever’s hidden in the wood to come forward and tell its story through my hands and my tools. . There’s a shaping here – of the wood and of myself – into something better suited to a life of service.  My experience as an adult child of alcoholism and dysfunctionality has taught me that there’s not a whole lot of difference between this process and the ongoing journey of my recovery.

You can find out more about my personal and communal healing work at www.standingwest.com or my YouTube channel: Putting it on the wind.
